Connect to Claude

Add this as a custom connector in Claude — it authenticates with your Google account over OAuth. No credentials of yours are stored on the server.

  1. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
  2. Paste the URL above and give it a name (e.g. tangent-mcp).
  3. Claude opens a Google sign-in + consent page — approve it to connect.
  4. Ask Claude to scaffold or generate a design, then publish one to get a shareable page.

How it works

Discrete tools, one file

Claude drives a small set of purpose-built tools — search_catalog, describe_device, scaffold_design, preview_design, publish_design, clone_design, update_design, export_bom and explain_placeability — that wrap a tested .isf generator. The server materializes the design and produces the file; nothing about your network leaves your control.

From catalog to .isf

A typical flow: search or scaffold a starting topology, preview the bill of materials the design will book, then publish it. The hosted page offers a one-click .isf download that imports straight into your quoting/design tool.

Shareable design pages

publish_design saves a hosted page showing the topology (with real device photos) and the full bill of materials, plus a one-click .isf download. Pages are private to you by default; mark one shared and any signed-in teammate can open its link — it's never public.

Two ways to sign in

Google sign-in identifies you in the browser (to view your design gallery), and OAuth 2.1 lets Claude make MCP requests on your behalf. Both resolve to the same account, so designs you publish from Claude show up in your gallery here.

FAQ

What does tangent-mcp give Claude access to?

The RUCKUS device catalog (ICX switches and access points, with photos and specs) and an .isf generator. Claude can search and describe devices, assemble a design, preview its bill of materials, and produce a downloadable .isf file — it does not connect to any live network or account of yours.

What is an .isf file?

It's the network design/quote project file that Claude generates here. Download it and import it into your RUCKUS quoting/design tool to get the full topology and bill of materials.

How do I add tangent-mcp to Claude?

In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste https://tangent-mcp.lanpulse.com/mcp/, and give it a name. Claude walks you through Google sign-in and consent the first time. See the Connect section above.

Who can see my published designs?

Published designs are private to you by default — only you, signed in, can open the page or download the .isf. You can mark a design Shared (from your gallery, or with the set_design_visibility tool) so any signed-in teammate who has the link can view it; everyone else — including anyone not signed in — gets a 404. Design pages are never public, and you can set your account to default new designs to private or shared.

Can Claude change anything in my accounts?

No. tangent-mcp has no upstream network or vendor account to act on — it only generates .isf files and hosted design pages under your login. It stores no credentials of yours beyond what's needed for Google sign-in and the Claude OAuth token.

What clients can connect?

Any MCP client that supports OAuth 2.1 custom connectors. It's tested with Claude.
